Youth/Church & Technology

Technology is taking over the world, but one place that I feel is taking way too long in adopting technology is the Church.

Well, some churches might be ahead of others in terms of how much and to what extent technology is used. I guess it all comes down to the culture, vision, finances and leadership in the church.

For starters, all members can now have the Bible with them wherever they go. Almost everyone (except for those who are afraid of Big Brother) carry a mobile phone with us, and more often than not, we can access the internet using the device. We use chat applications such as mxit or facebook etc. What about the times when we are sitting in a coffee shop and wanting to read the Bible, or share with the world a revelation experienced while doing Bible study?

YouVersion allows you to do just that. The site allows you to read the Bible at your own pace, or you can follow the daily reading plan. You can even setup groups that allows a group of people to follow a particular reading plan. The mobile web application is an ongoing development with improvements added regularly. You can also make contributions based on scripture passages and share it with the world.

It also has mobile Bible applications that you can download and read the Bible, on your phone.

So go ahead, give it a try and be blessed by this awesome application.
