I am utterly dissapointed with the SABC's broadcasts (or shall I say: lack thereof) of the RWC matches. Since when do you only broadcast 2 quaterfinal matches?! This is rediculous.
I missed the live action and did not have the pleasure of seeing the All Blacks going down. When I got to see it eventually (in a highlights package) it was like eating old cupcakes.
And the commentary is pathetic! Pieter Hendricks was a good player in his days. But does that make him a commentator? No! Well, a bad one at least. The guy keeps on saying the same thing over and over again. It has even become a joke amongst me and my collegues. "Ja nee Craig...", "Die jong speler het n GROOT toekoms voor hom", "Soos ek voorheen gese het, Craig, spoed keer jy net met spoed" etc.... And Pieter: We do understand English. No need to repeat everything that Craig says. And I'm falling asleep with his robocop voice. It is so monotonous; like driving through th Freestate. Does he perhaps come from there?? hmmm... should explain a few things...
Please SABC, we pay a lot on Tv licences. The least you can do is to ensure that we get quality broadcasts.

"...Ad hoc explanation"....NOT!
Hi there. Today I'd like to comment on ex-Cristian's post of 06 Oct '07.
He/she (for the purpose of this post I'll refer to he...if you don't mind) says that yhe answers given him seems too easy. This seems to me as if he really doesn't want an answer. No matter how many answers and reasons we give for God's existence etc., if you don't want to be shown otherwise, then your mind is made up. Nobody can change your mind. So i don't think that his reason for knocking down people's explanations are valid at all. In fact it is very subjective (even though us as Cristians are accused of being subjective).
The way I see it, once someone has made up his/her mind about something, no matter what you tell them, they do not want your answer. And your answers will never be good enough for them. This is partly because they only listen for what they want to hear, and if your story does not satisfy their world-view, they regard your view as insufficient and "ad hoc".
Because God's ways and being is way beyond what we as simple human beings can understand, we tend to want to say: "if I can't see Him, and understand Him, that means He is not there" or whatever once wishes to say. We miss the element of faith entirely.
The reasons ex-Christian gives for his "de-conversion" seems to me like a lot of media influence. I sense a lot of instability (spiritual), so it is sad that someone who once claimed to be a Christian could turn their back on a God that actually cares for them. Real Christianity is, contrary to common belief, not a religion. I believe that it is a relationship. Yes, it might sound like a cliche, but only if you have experienced what God can do for and through you, will you be able to appreciate His love for you.
You cannot see Him, because His Word says that He lives within man. And that happened when He sent the Holy Spirit to live with us. So you might ask what is the difference between God and the Holy Spirit... The short answer: Nothing! The Holy Spirit is God. Just like the Son (Jesus) is God. Known as the Holy Trinity. One God, in three forms. Each with his own function.
I realise that ex-Christian says that God is too complicated for the human mind. If he was just like you and me, would I want him as a God? I don't think so. One thing we have to relise and make peace with is the fact that us as humans don't know everything. In fact we really know very little.
If the world around you, the hurt, the devastation, the pain etc. does not make sense to you and it seems that God does not care, should you look for the fault with God? Or should we not rather look at ourselves. What are we doing that causes things to be in so much chaos? God warned us in His Word that these things would happen. But no. We decide that it's His fault that things are so bad. Instead of asking for directions on how to fix things, we turn to ourselves. and what do we know? If you can't see that you are wrong, how can you fix things around you?
"..the puzzle didn't match the box..." Ever thought that maybe you had the wrong box? It's all a matter of perspective. We look to ourselves for answers and cannot find any. Then we look to God for answers and we say that we cannot sense of it. I think the reason why we cannot make sense of it is the simple fact that we do not want to believe that we are dependant on God. We do not want to believe that there is a greater purpose. And this is the same reason why athiests came up with the evolution theory. The belief that says that we are our own gods. That we dont need a God to decide how things should be. - That right there is the start of major problems, which could make a good discussion for a nother day.
To conclude...
Just because we do not understand the world and the ways of God does not mean that He does not exist. Just because there are many people walking around with long hair does not mean that there are no barbers. They just haven't consulted with one yet. Man do not want to consult with God, but wants to blame Him for all the trouble in the world. It is time that we own up to our mistakes and accept the fact that we may not in this life be able to fully grasp the greatness of God the Creator. But that does not mean that He does not exist and that He loves each of us as His own children. All He requires is for us to trust in Him to come through for us and to trust in the fact that he is in control.
The more we surrender to His will, the more we learn about Him.
Have a great day!

Been a long time...
I wish I had more time to update this blog more often, but as life goes, things get in the way and you never make time to do the things that u want to do. But hey, I'm here now with some time to spare... so here goes...
Life in Cape Town has been pretty normal. Boring at times. The thing is not that there's not much to do. There is so much to do, but I really dont like going out and about on my own. So I often find myself sitting at home, doing nothing... Yes, sad you would say. I agree. People tell me that I should make friends and start doing something. Problem is, in CT it is not so easy to make friends. The people here are not as friendly and welcoming as back home. You kind of have to "prove" yourself first before you get in.
I do know some guys from back home with who I get along well, and on the odd occation we do stuff together. But I cant really hang out with these guys. They are into clubbing etc. and I really wont be found on that scene.
The people at church are friendly and really nice, but I only get to mingle with them when I go to church or go to young adults meeting. But that's where it ends. Im not in a hurry to do anything though, so I take it as it comes.
Other than that Im doing well. My car is not so well though. Seems as if the years are taking its toll ont he old guy. So I tend to spend a bit on the greezer. Hopefully I can get it sorted out again. *sigh*

New Job!!
Hi there!
It's been a long time since I've updated this post :(
But from now on I'll try to do so more often!
Newswise: I've started my new Job at Korbitec in Rondebosch!!
And what a great place to work. The people are really nice and they are really helpful.
This week (our 1st week) we had induction. We basically had to sit through tons of presentations. We got to know what the company is all about, what products we offer, who our customers are etc.
Go and have a look at www.korbitec.com
Life in Cape Town is very different from life In Port Elizabeth! The traffic in the morning is the first thing you notice. Before the schools started, it took me 8 - 10 min to drive to work. Since the schools started, it takes me about 45 - 60 mins, depending on how early i get to leave! Crazy!!!!!
The area is lovely though! I'll post some pics here as soon as I can get my hands on a camera :)
I stay with a dear old lady in Athlone. She cares for me like a son (she doesn't have any kids). So it's been really great (and comfortable - not having to cook etc)
Well, more to follow soon...
Remeber: Allow God to form you lest you become deformed!
